10 Tips to Better Time Managment
My cousin used to always ask himself, "Everyone has 24 hours in the day, what can I do in that time better my life?" I think this is a great question to ask yourself everyday in order to prioritize your day giving you more time to follow your dream. If you are new to this page, we have been working on living our dreams and going from being a dreamer to doer. William Penn once said “Time is what we want most but use worst.” I know this is true for many of us, busy dreamers. We have many things we want to accomplish in our day but never seem to have enough time to do everything. By using these 10 tips on better time management we can prioritize our life and make better use of our time.
- Make a to do list. When we make a to do list, we can visualize what we want done.
- Prioritize your to do list. When are able to prioritize our responsibilities into most urgent, medium and not important so our day isn't filled with unnecessary jobs.
- Delegate. Look at your prioritized list and see what assignments others can help you with or combine with another. That way multiple tasks can be done at once.
- Make a plan. When you have a deadline of when a task needs to be done, it is important to plan how you will achieve it on time.
- Use your calendar. I just started a planner and calendar. It has made a huge difference on how I go about doing big tasks. I am able to write down smaller tasks I need to do on a specific day in order to reach my goal.
- Know your body’s schedule. If you are too tired to do things at night, plan to do them during the day. If you aren’t a morning person, don’t plan to wake up really early to get tasks done because you will be tired the rest of the day.
- Use a timer. When you have a small time frame to accomplish a task, set a timer so you can focus and achieve more in a small amount of time.
- Turn off distractions. Whether its your phone, Facebook, Pinterest, TV or other people in the room, limit the distractions so you can use less time to complete a task.
- Plan free time. Even if you have a million things to do, plan to have down time so you won't get burned out. Plus everyone needs time to spend with their family or doing other hobbies. This will also give your mind time to rest resulting in better performance when it is time to resume your obligations.
- Relax. When things aren't going as planned, it will be okay. Giving in to negative stress can lead to negative results. By take a step back and practicing relaxing techniques the stress can turn into a positive motivator.
We all have 24 hours in the day and we can never get it back. So hopefully these tips will help us prioritize our lives so we can use our priceless time to follow our dreams,
