DIY Wall Art Using Cardboard

I think my living room is finally decorated how I like it! In just a few weeks I was able to turn my blank walls into a room showing personality and feel like home.  I did this with a mixture of do it yourself projects, apartment therapy tricks and budget tips.  I'll post pictures of the whole room soon to show you the overall look (since I'm so excited how it turned out!).

Now back to the project, I created this project using cardboard and wall paper in less than 10 minutes and for only $1!  It was the easiest project I've made so far and it goes great with my other living room decor.  This is a tutorial of how I did it.

15 Strange Pregnancy Symptoms

10:44 PM Jessica 6 Comments

As my pregnancy is coming close to an end (I'm 36 weeks! Can you believe it?) I've been thinking about my pregnancy from when I first found out the exciting news to now.  I’ve braved all the crazy pregnancy symptoms, my body growing to sizes I never thought I'd be and endured all unusual comments and questions asked by strangers.  I’m so glad I’ve been able to have this experience and I'm so excited for me and my husband to meet our son.  With that, I’ve decided to create a series of posts about the things I’ve experienced during my first pregnancy.

Here is a list of the top 15 strangest pregnancy symptoms I experienced during my pregnancy.

I've been thinking about my pregnancy from when I first found out the exciting news to now.  I’ve braved all the crazy pregnancy symptoms, my body growing to sizes I never thought I'd be and successfully kept my reactions to a minimum with all the unusual comments and questions I’ve been asked by strangers.  I’m so glad I’ve been able to have this experience and have a chance for me and my husband to create a miracle.  With that, I’ve decided to create a series of posts about the things I’ve experienced during my first pregnancy.

I love words and letters.  I love how they show your personality and who you are, I love all the different styles, colors, fonts and sizes they can come in.  Plus they are really easy to decorate with and great for apartment therapy because you can make a statement with your favorite quote.

I love mirrors and new ways to use "junk" (like the paint sticks)! So when I found all the unique  sunburst mirror craft ideas to do at home on Pinterest I knew I needed to make my own to turn paint sticks  and mirror from junk to treasure. Here is how I did it.

DIY Chevron Necklace From Paint chips

5:41 PM Jessica 4 Comments

Chevron is everywhere! Chevron clothes, jewelry.. even wedding themes.  As I keep seeing chevron it makes me want everything chevron too!... Well maybe not everything but I definitely did want a necklace in that pattern.  As I was looking at Pinterest of all the cute clothes that were accessorizes with a chevron necklaces I got motivated to try to make my own jewelry at home... even if I had to start at beginners level (I've never made jewelry before).  I made my necklace grey, black and white and I love how it turned out!  But maybe next time I will choose colors that "pop" so it can be more of a statement piece or a bracelet to match. But here is a tutorial for a cheap do it yourself necklace.

DIY Bottle Centerpiece and Vase

Last week I redecorated my living room and moved furniture (well mostly my husband and mom did that part but I was good moral support) making it look like a whole new room.  I love how much more space I have! It's very surprising how much of a difference moving the furniture can be a room. With the new placement of furniture and decorations my my coffee table starting looking pretty bare.  So I decided to decorate some old liquor bottles and yarn to to make a centerpiece (I think I have a new addiction. Finding trash to treasure.  Heehee not the worst thing to be addicted to).

DIY Repurpose Old Shelf or Wood Piece for under $5

4:14 PM Jessica 0 Comments

On Pinterest I see tons of people who create amazing do it yourself crafts using old furniture or wood to paint unique pieces for their home.  I decided I would start small (in case mine didn't look HGTV worthy) and create my own wall art.  I used a shelf from old furniture my neighbors were throwing away but you could use a piece of wood and get the same result.  I was very impressed with the results!  It turned out very cute, it was easy, fast, and budget friendly.  It could even be a project for kids to help you with.

DIY EAT Cardboard Letter Art for Under $1

I have had the wall space above my sink in my kitchen empty for months.  It has been waiting for something unique to be hung there.  After searching Pinterest for various do it yourself kitchen wall art ideas, not really finding anything I was in love with I decided to make my own cheap craft using repurpose cardboard and yarn to create an "EAT" sign.

DIY Quote Wall Art Using Paint Chips

3:20 PM Jessica 0 Comments

This project is my favorite do it yourself project I have done so far.  It looks cute, you are able to create this paint chip craft in any style you choose, and you are able to create this easy wall art for very cheap.  I repurposed an old frame, paint chips of any color and paper to create this project.  I don't have very many pictures for this project but I don't think you will need any since it is very easy.

DIY Cardboard Wall Art for only $3

With my school semester coming to an end and my recently cut work hours as a pre maternity leave before Baby Z gets here, I have more time on my hands then ever.  It started out very relaxing between my binge watching of Netflix, a nap, a little more Netflix, another nap and some Pinterest browsing in between.  But I started to get bored fast  and decided I needed to do something useful.  So I decided I would put my Pinterest addiction to good use and start making do it yourself projects one by one (even though I have never really done DIY projects... ever...).  I learned I actually really like doing them because of the satisfaction and the challenge! Its a challenge because....
      1. I didn't think I could craft or decorate
      2. I have a very small budget for supplies
So back to my project this was the first one I made and I am quite proud of myself!

I attempted to get similar results as Bon Temps Beignet but decided to use a different method that was faster for me and used materials I already had.
